This project is one I value dearly, given the context and the results that came from it. I first met Jim (The Barber Envy) towards the end of lockdown. He made a very brave move of looking past the constraints that we were living in and made the jump to open his barbershop, which was something he's always dreamed of doing.

He needed help to get his shop off the ground running and whilst he's built a good following for himself on social media, he was missing a presence on one of the most power platforms - Google.

My work consisted in trying to get him to rank for 'Barbershop in Tring' and surrounding areas. This was done by conducting keyword research, building his Google My Business profile to increase his chances of ranking for local searches and creating content for his website. This content was to create a better connection with his website visitors, for example, telling his story and creating a bio for his barbershop, all whilst making it SEO-Friendly.

A mission I gave for Jim was to religiously ask for reviews from all his clients so his Google My Business profile would snowball and his rankings on the search engine will increase over time.

SEO is a long-term strategy but with his consistent efforts, fast-forward 2-3 years later and over 200+ 5-star reviews, The Spot has become the best rated barbershop in his area and his shop has never been busier. He has employed a second barber, with a third one in the pipeline.

This is a great example of how important SEO is for local businesses.
